My name is Toby Cummings and I’m pleased to welcome you to TC Design, my online portfolio. I’m a freelance graphic designer from South Dakota and am currently accepting projects. Feel free to explore my portfolio and browse some of my design works. I have three years of experience in graphic design, and I specialize in logo, print, and web design. My other passions include digital photography, personal training, and movies. Design Passion
I entered into the design field at an early age with Photoshop, because my mother worked at our local newspaper designing ads. That was Photoshop version 3, just to give you some perspective. While my forte was applying various garish filters to make my photos and drawings super cool, I realized the remarkable capability of this intriguing application. After that, I branched out into page design, logo creation, photography and Web design. I’ve come to believe there is great power wielded by the visual design of everything around us. Never has it been more important for designers to hone their skills and study their craft, in order to use the art of design to its fullest potential.
An Education
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Contemporary Media & Journalism with an emphasis in Visual Communications from The University of South Dakota in 2007. Since then, I’ve developed three years of experience in freelance graphic design that has allowed me to work on many print and web projects. I realize it’s not customary to immediately begin a freelance business right out of school as opposed to getting a job at an agency or a large company. However, I think my direct consultation with clients and developing my own workflow has been a great learning experience. It has been both been challenging and incredibly rewarding.
